What derafu.dev is for, what Derafu DEV builds, and the kind of notes this blog will keep.
Welcome to the blog
This is the blog of derafu.dev. The site already holds the documentation for the libraries we publish. The blog is where we write the notes that do not belong in a reference page: a decision we made, a problem that only showed up in production, a tool we had to learn properly before we could use it.
What Derafu DEV is
Derafu DEV is the software engineering side of Derafu Corp. The work splits in two, and each half keeps the other honest.
We publish free software: PHP libraries (and some Python around them) that we use ourselves. They are small on purpose. A query builder, a form renderer, a data processor, components for Twig, tools for XML. You can take one of them without taking the rest. We care about code that stays readable after the person who wrote it has moved on to the next problem.
We also design and keep the software behind Derafu IO: the products Derafu sells, from electronic invoicing to the APIs around them. The libraries exist because those products needed them. They stay public because the same problems show up in other projects, including yours.
We work from Chile.
What you will find here
Posts will stay close to that work. How a library is shaped, what broke when real users met it, and the occasional write-up of a standard or a piece of infrastructure we depend on. Short when the subject is small.
The reference material lives in the documentation. The projects are listed on the home page. If you want to write to the people who maintain both, [email protected] reaches us.
Welcome. The next posts will be about the work itself.
